It was two weeks before Crown princess of Sweden PrincessVictoria Ingrid Alice Dsire and her boyfriend for a long time Daniel Westling enjoy the ecstacy of marriage. It was a moment that could not be more charming and timed perfectly as it was held last Saturday on the 20th day of June at the Cathedral of Stockholm, and among the attendees were the proud parents of the bride King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, who at that moment were also having their 34th marriage anniversary.
Braving the controversies that hounded the couple for years, they finally wed at the Storkyran Cathedral in Stockholm in grandiose fashion. In attendance were the King and Queen of Sweden, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Sofia, who incidentally were also wed at the same church and was celebrating their 34th year of marriage on the same day.
This event begins with a festival for two weeks making up the union celebration of the couple "Love Stockholm 2010". And while the ceremony was in the cathedral, gigantic screens in strategic locations were installed for spectators to watch for the rite on the streets of Stockholm filled with flower.
Shying away from the customary Swedish practices, the Princess was persistent that her father, the King, walk her to the altar to give her away, an act which others would also have an undesirable reaction to.
Witnesses to the ceremony include Royalties from all around Europe together with Royal guests and dignitaries and they were able to gaze at the couple exchange not only exchange their wedding vows with each other but also a couple of sweet moments while at the altar, including a moment when the Swedish Princess softly brushed the tears off of her husband's cheek just as they finished putting rings on each other.
The event itself was said to be gloriously elegant and no less than the bride best represent the overall tone of her grand day. She wore a silk Pr Engsheden-designed off shoulder gown in cream, accentuated by the Cameo tiara her mother also wore on her wedding day. Princess Victoria was a sight to behold, and equally, her groom was all snazzy in his 3- piece tuxedo.
The ceremony was followed by a banquet at Drottningholm Palace with an informal atmosphere. The King gave a short message in English, which had a lighthearted response from the Princess, but one that is heartwarming as well. And in remembering another significant part of the same day, the father of the bride, the king complimented the marriage anniversary to his Queen with a rose a pink one, which trailed his wife to her tears.
Daniel Westling, the groom and now the Duke of Vastergotland had a speech also in English, opting to have it in mind than documented. It was emotional, and after the speech of the groom the cake was rolled out and sliced by the couple following the tradition. After which the couple began the merrymaking by initiating the first dance, and the night of dancing followed afterwards.
After that day, the couple left for their honeymoon but the guests were treated for another feast. The location of the honeymoon on the other hand was not known.
Fairy Tales happen. And as for us it would be a good thing to wish Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel a life of happy ever after.
